MAGA + PLATAFORMA ARTBASE + MARLENE EHRENBERG
The city on foot. From the gold-leafed halls of Museo Santo Domingo to the rooftop calm of Amá Terraza, through textile rooms, the lithographic press at La Máquina, the paintings of Jesús Villafán. Lunch at Tierra del Sol — a tribute to corn, beans, and cacao. The day ends with live music and a panoramic Oaxacan night at La Jícara.
Into the Central Valleys. The pyramids of Monte Albán at dawn, then the color-soaked workshop of Jacobo and María Ángeles, where alebrijes grow from imagination and patience. A visit to Manos que Ven — clay sirenas shaped by touch. Lunch at Almú in Tilcajete. The night closes over cocktails at La Selva and dinner at Zandunga.
A day that moves from the noise of the market to the silence of clay. Centro de las Artes de San Agustín opens the morning; the ceramics workshop at Taller 3x3 takes the hands somewhere else entirely. The afternoon belongs to mezcal: a pairing lunch at A Medios Chiles, where agave and fire and time become something to drink slowly.
The valley as a long, unhurried read. Teotitlán del Valle market at its most alive, then the weavers and makers of Taller 8. The ancient geometry of Mitla at midday. Lunch under the shade of El Milenario, and a final pause beside the Árbol del Tule — two thousand years old and still here.
A Mexican pioneer in responsible travel and ecotourism, Marlene began her work in tourism at the 1968 Olympic Games and has spent more than 40 years designing bespoke, out-of-the-ordinary journeys. Through her company Rebozo, she connects visitors to artisans, musicians, dancers and cooks — and brings a deep knowledge of Mexico's archaeological sites, native cultures, and biodiversity. She works with a trusted network of local hosts, guides, and specialized services, and handles groups of all kinds.
Visual artist, photographer, and curator with an international trajectory. Her work — rooted in photography, performance and research — has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, Palais de Tokyo and MUAC, and recognized with awards including Prix Pictet and the Ford Foundation. Named one of Forbes' 50 most creative Mexicans in 2015. As founder of Plataforma ArtBase, she links emerging artists with international institutions and art fairs including Zona Maco, The Armory Show, and Pinta Miami. Her curatorial focus centers on the Latin American diaspora and underrepresented artistic practices.
Cultural promoter, multimedia designer and audiovisual artist with over 10 years of experience in cultural and artistic projects.
Born and rooted in Oaxaca, she is a deep explorer of its territory — its artistic traditions, craft processes, contemporary scene and gastronomic culture. That knowledge isn't academic; it's lived, walked and tasted.
Her work spans festival management, artist liaison, curatorial strategy and content production for exhibitions and galleries. She guides curated cultural and gastronomic experiences through Oaxaca — studio visits, market routes, tasting sessions — connecting people with the living culture of the region.
Everything is included: four full days of curated programming — guided visits, all workshop entries, ground transportation between stops, and accommodation in the heart of the city, walking distance from everything. Your meals are yours to discover.
You’ll stay at a carefully chosen hotel in Oaxaca’s historic center — a quiet, beautiful base from which the city unfolds on foot. Different room types available to suit every preference. Spots are limited. This is a small-group experience by design.
